Adobe has done a study that shows the share of website visits from tablets has been growing about 10 times faster than the ate of smartphones in the past 2 years. People seem to visit more pages on their tablets than other devices. Not surprisingly, the majority of sites online are not optimized for mobile viewing. Tablets do handle sites much better. The Nook with GlowLight is a pretty decent e-reader. It is compact, easy to carry around, and does not require you to buy a reading light. We have known for quite some time that Amazon has been working on Kindles with front-lit displays. B&N may have gotten its lighted NOOK to the market first but that does not mean Amazon won’t go ahead with its plans.According to Reuters, Amazon plans to launch a new Kindle with light in July 2012. The details on this device are very sketchy. But the chances of this device not being a lighted e-reader are slim. Amazon is not stopping there though.

  • iPad won’t miss a beat in 2012 despite competition from new Kindle Fire and Windows 8 tablets

    David Needle
    15 May 2012 | 7:00 pm
Strong sales of Amazon’s Kindle Fire may have got Apple’s attention in the fourth quarter of last year, but new research indicates the iPad will retain its dominant market share in 2012. The $199 Kindle Fire attracted millions of buyers over the holiday shopping season after its release last November, dropping the iPad’s share of the tablet market to 55.1%, according to the IHS iSuppli Worldwide Tablet Market report. But IHS says the iPad is set to recover and maintain a comfortable 61% share of the tablet market for all of 2012.  At its height last year, Kindle Fire had 41.1%…
